Welcome to ULA, a Club for Everyone!

Welcome to University of London Archery Club website. We are a successful team of archers based in University of London Union and UCL, winning many regional, national and international tournaments. The club mainly consists of University of London students, staffs and alumni, but we are also open to the public members who wish to learn archery in a friendly, supportive enviroment while without breaking their wallet. The club welcomes both experienced and novice archers, so if you are interested in trying out archery but have little or no experience, or if you are a professional archers who regularly competes at national level, come along and join us, recurve, compound, longbow, barebow are all welcomed!

Archery

Archery is truely a sport for all. It's safe, fun, and easy to learn, but it will take a lifetime of learning and practice to master the art of archery. Archery is great for upper-body toning, confidence and concentration building, edurance and strength training, and general health improvement, some people also consider archery as a way of meditating. We believe above all, archery is fun!

Archery is a technical sport, not precision nor strength sport, thanks to our ever-advancing technology, morden bows are more energy efficient and require much less physical strength to handle, wheelchaired or even blind people can also enjoy this wonderful sport! We are currently working towards to obtaining a child protection officer and coaching services for disabled archers. We hope to make archery a truely safe and fun experience to all.

Please be advised that bow hunting is illegal in the UK, therefore we only practice target and field archery. In addition, we currently do not allow crossbow category in the club due to safety reasons.

Beginners

Ever wondered if you can match Robinhood's amazing shots? Or hit the bullseye of the size of a grape 90 meters away? Yes, you can!

We are a friendly club that treats our beginners with respect. At ULA we have very experienced coaches to get you started in archery by teaching you how to shoot low-poundage recurve bow. Don't worry about that you might not be talented or shortsighted, with proper techniques, you can be just as good as Robinhood himself!

Have a look at our Beginner section for more information. We look forward to seeing you!

The Team

The team has won numerous medals at all levels. Current and ex-members include Great Britain team members and ex-Olympic archer. Our members won bronze medal for the UK in the 2005 World University Archery Championship. 2009 saw ULA obtaining her first recurve gold medal in British Universities and Colleges Sports Indoor Archery - the biggest, most fierecely competed indoor archery event in the UK.

The current team coach is Christine Kirchoff, her current compound UK ranking is 16 (30 for recurve). Our new beginners' training program has been proven successful as two of our novices obtained silver and bronze medals in London County regional competitions. Currently the club has one Archery Leader (1st level coaching qualification). This year we will strengthen our training programs, provide quality, efficient coaching for our members. When archery gets competitive, there's no one better than us.

Social

Archery is a very competitive sport, but you don¨t have to be competitive to join us! While we try to maintain a healthy competitiveness at ULA, we know that social side is the backbone of the club.

We take full advantage of being in the heart of London, we regularly organize pub-crawls, Xmas dinners, fun-shoots, theater trips to the west end and club day out. Past events including: trip to see Avenue Q, touring the Fuller's Brewery and many many more. While most of our social events take place in the heart of London, we organise around 20 competitions around the UK throughout the year that take us to various locations, they often offer you good opportunities to escape the overcrowrded London once in a while.
